In recent years, the art world has been in a tizzy, and the culprit is none other than those three mystifying letters – NFT. Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) have stormed onto the scene, promising a digital renaissance for artists and collectors alike. They’re hailed as the revolutionary force forging a new partnership between art and blockchain technology. But every rose has its thorns. Is this marriage a match made in heaven, or just a fling that’s bound to fizzle out?

Let’s dive into the digital rabbit hole and unearth the treasures and traps that NFTs bring to the contemporary art scene.

The Revolutionary Brush Strokes

1. The Golden Ticket to Financial Wonderland:

Remember the stir Beeple caused with his $69 million digital collage?. It wasn’t just a jaw-dropping moment for the art realm, but a wake-up call to artists about the gold mine awaiting in the digital domain. The NFT craze has empowered artists with a new avenue to monetize their creativity, seemingly offering a financial wonderland. The sky’s the limit, and Beeple is the living testament to that.

2. A New Dawn of Digital Art Appreciation:

The beauty of NFTs lies in their ability to bestow uniqueness upon digital art, a realm traditionally plagued by infinite reproducibility. Now, each digital artwork shimmers with a unique digital signature on the blockchain, making every pixel priceless.

3. Mingling with Emerging Tech:

NFTs aren’t shy to mingle with other buzzworthy tech trends. They’ve cozied up to virtual reality and social media, expanding the horizon for digital artistry and creating immersive and interactive art experiences.

The Thorny Side

1. Riding the Rollercoaster of Market Volatility:

The NFT market is nothing short of a rollercoaster. A spike in sales one month, a dip the next. The fluctuating sales figures from April 2021 to April 2023 highlight a volatile market that could potentially sour the NFT and art romance.

2. The Navigational Nightmare:

With the rapid growth of the NFT space, artists face the Herculean task of navigating a market as complex as a cubist painting. New entrants might find themselves lost in the digital labyrinth, struggling to grasp the ropes of this new-age art commerce.

Peering into the Crystal Ball

1. The Green Brushstroke:

As the NFT market matures, whispers of sustainability are growing louder. The art world is yearning for eco-friendly blockchain solutions to alleviate the environmental guilt tied to NFTs.

2. Digitalization: A Lasting Trend or a Passing Cloud?:

The march towards digitalization in the art realm is undeniable. But will NFTs remain the flagbearers, or will they fade away, making room for the next big thing? Only time will paint the full picture.

In the colorful canvas of the art world, NFTs have undoubtedly etched a significant mark. They’ve opened new horizons, yet brought along a set of challenges that can’t be brushed under the rug. Whether NFTs and the art world will continue to paint a pretty picture together or part ways as fleeting lovers, remains a narrative yet to be fully illustrated.

The discourse around NFTs and art continues to evolve, much like a piece of art in the making. And as we stand at the crossroads of a digital revolution, the brushstrokes of NFTs in the art world are indeed painting a narrative full of intrigue, hope, and an array of hues yet to be deciphered.

So, is the partnership between NFTs and the art world a revolutionary masterpiece or merely a passing trend? The jury’s still out, but one thing’s for sure, the narrative is as captivating as a Picasso, and we’re here for every stroke of it.

With the film industry reviving after a rough couple of years, people have been flocking to cinemas in droves to watch the latest blockbusters. The colossal popularity of movies like Barbie and Oppenheimer in recent months has shown how excited people are about films and turning them into fun events.

However, it’s not just the widely anticipated flicks from notable directors or franchises that are revitalizing the industry; indie films are also getting their moment to shine. Over the years, many have risen in popularity despite the smaller studio names involved. Consider the enormous success of the indie film and award show darling Everything, Everywhere, All at Once; the A24 movie managed to captivate audiences and critics with its unique story despite the limited budget, crew, and resources.

As an indie filmmaker, it can be tough to stay encouraged when looking at how digital tech has been integrated into moviemaking. CGI actors, artificial intelligence, and other high-tech advancements can make the industry hard to navigate with an indie budget. But there, if you’re an aspiring indie filmmaker looking to publish your own movie, know there’s a huge audience waiting for you and your stories. You don’t need the latest tech to make your movie work; finding the right equipment is a great starting point. More specifically, you’re going to use specific cameras to ensure you get the best shots possible. Below are four of these cameras:

Mirrorless Cameras

Because of their features, mirrorless cameras are considered a lighter and cheaper alternative to DSLRs. As the name suggests, these cameras work without an optical reflex mirror. The light instead passes through the lens straight to the sensor, which then shows the image on the camera’s LCD screen or through the electronic viewfinder. This allows you to adjust the settings and preview the image before it is even shot.

Moreover, mirrorless cameras have larger sensors than most camcorders, making them the perfect choice in low-light settings and for creative shallow-focus shots. Many models are available on the market, but new filmmakers can start with a Sony Alpha a7R V or a Canon EOS R7; these provide versatile features and capabilities for both image and video. With a mirrorless camera, you can ensure your story will be told in high quality.

Action Cameras

Perhaps you have already encountered a GoPro or a DJI Pocket 2. Both of these are action cameras. Action cameras are suitable for outdoor filming since they are weather-, water-, and shockproof, earning them the nickname “adventure cameras.” They are durable enough to withstand getting dropped, worn, or thrown. The smaller action cameras also have enormous, protected sensors that can shoot high-resolution videos. Most have built-in stabilization that guarantees good output despite the rough conditions.

Plus, action cameras, in general, are naturally built to be compact and lightweight so that you can bring them to remote shooting locations.

Traditional Film Cameras

Despite advancements in the filmmaking industry, there is a particular flair for using traditional film cameras. They offer a “softer” image and video resolution. These cameras also have a higher dynamic range, making them better at capturing detail in whites and blacks. Film cameras are also a favorite of many indie filmmakers, as they give the film a certain old-school charm that isn’t as evident with modern digital equipment. Up to now, indie movies are still using film cameras despite the advent and accessibility of contemporary tech. Movies like Past Lives and Asteroid City were released in 2023, yet were still shot on film cameras for certain parts of the film.

There’s just one catch, however: because of the limited number of exposures on a roll of film, you need to plan your shoots carefully so you don’t waste a lot of them. If you wish to use one in your movie, the Canon AE-1 35mm Film Camera is an excellent entry-level model to own. Its controls are easy to learn.

Drone Cameras

Finally, if you are looking for a camera that will cater to your aerial filming needs, you will want to add a drone to the list. Some notable drone cameras, like the DJI Mini 2 and Parrot ANAFI, are environment-proof, allowing you to film in unsafe or hard-to-navigate locations like forests. If you are filming overwater scenes, there are waterproof drones, like the Swellpro SplashDrone 4.

However, before operating drone cameras, secure a permit from the Federal Aviation Administration first. You should also check your state’s rules on drone flying, as you may need to submit additional requirements.

As the industry advances, filmmakers need better equipment to produce high-quality movies that produce truly memorable scenes. And it all starts with the right kind of camera.

Let’s dive into the realm of emerging social media features and functionalities tailored for the new wave of content creators. It’s intriguing to think of the cutting-edge technologies that may mould this dynamic period as the social media environment continues to change.

Augmented Reality Filters Redefined: One of the intriguing prospects is the evolution of augmented reality (AR) filters in live content. Content creators might wield AR filters to transform live streams into interactive experiences, elevating engagement through immersive elements and captivating backgrounds.

Collaboration Beyond Boundaries: In this digital epoch, the collaboration potential for content creators is boundless. The advent of real-time collaborative tools could facilitate co-hosted live streams or collaborative content curation, offering fresh avenues for creators to fuse their creative energies.

Virtual Gatherings in the Digital Sphere: The ongoing shift towards virtual events and remote interactions could seamlessly merge with social media. Imagine content creators hosting virtual workshops, webinars, and networking sessions, directly engaging with their audience in a shared digital space.

Monetization on the Horizon: Monetization strategies are evolving beyond conventional paradigms. Alongside conventional ads, the horizon holds possibilities such as direct tipping, subscription models, and intriguingly, the integration of NFTs to support content creators’ endeavors.

Personalization Enhanced by AI: As AI algorithms advance, the realm of personalized content distribution stands to evolve. Tailored content recommendations driven by AI could usher content creators into a sphere where their creations resonate profoundly with the preferences of their target audience.

Interactivity Transforming Videos: Interactivity is poised to reshape video content. Envision videos incorporating interactive elements, enabling viewers to shape the narrative’s direction, participate in polls, and engage in quizzes, all within the video frame.

Upholding Privacy in the Digital Age: As concerns about privacy gain prominence, the future could witness social media platforms rolling out privacy-centric features. These might grant content creators greater control over their data and enable them to regulate their content’s visibility.

Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: The future of content creation could be marked by platforms spotlighting diversity and inclusion. Advanced algorithms might amplify underrepresented creators, while features like captions, translations, and accessibility tools could ensure inclusivity.

Rise of Ephemeral Content: Ephemeral content, epitomized by Stories, appears poised for further innovation. Envisage extended story durations, augmented editing capabilities, and even the prospect of scheduling and orchestrating Stories ahead of time.

AI’s Role in Content Creation: Artificial intelligence could become an indispensable ally for content creators. From crafting captions to proposing optimal hashtags, AI could streamline content creation and optimization, optimizing efficiency.

Unifying Across Platforms: Seamlessly navigating multiple social media platforms could become the norm. Streamlined integration could empower content creators to disseminate their creations across various platforms with ease.

Virtual Reality Unveiled: As virtual reality inches closer to mainstream adoption, the realm of content creation might embrace VR experiences. Creators could lead their audience through immersive virtual journeys, blurring the lines between the real and digital worlds.

The trajectory of social media’s evolution for content creators is rich with potential. While the fusion of technology and artistic expression fosters innovation in this field, content producers and users alike are ready to explore a canvas of opportunities that is always increasing as the digital world changes. Stay engaged, for this is merely the beginning.

Remember the days when gaming was just about rescuing a pixelated princess or gobbling up dots in a maze? Well, those days are as retro as your dad’s mullet. Has gaming evolved into a legitimate form of art and expression since then? Spoiler alert: It’s not just about high scores anymore.

Let’s kick things off with a trip down memory lane. Remember “Pong”? That simple tennis simulation was groundbreaking in its time. But compare it to the narrative depth of games like “The Last of Us” or the ethereal beauty of “Journey”, and it’s like comparing stick figures to the Sistine Chapel.

Narrative Depth: More Than Just Quests
Games today aren’t just about defeating the big bad boss. They’re about stories, emotions, and characters with more depth than a deep-dish pizza. Take “Red Dead Redemption 2” for instance. It’s not just a cowboy shoot-’em-up; it’s a tale of redemption, loss, and the changing times.

A Visual Feast for the Eyes
If you’ve ever stopped your character just to admire a virtual sunset or gawk at the detailed architecture of a digital city, you know what I’m talking about. Games like “Assassin’s Creed” don’t just offer gameplay; they offer a visual journey through time and space.

Music to My (Elven) Ears
From the adrenaline-pumping beats of “Doom” to the serene ambience of “Animal Crossing”, video game soundtracks have a way of sticking with us long after we’ve turned off the console. Who among us hasn’t found themselves humming the iconic theme from “The Legend of Zelda” or getting goosebumps from the haunting melodies of “Skyrim”? It’s clear: game music isn’t merely an auditory backdrop. It’s a meticulously crafted symphony of emotions, intricately woven into the gameplay, amplifying every triumph, tragedy, and twist, truly elevating the entire gaming experience.

Interactivity: The Game Changer
Movies make you watch. Books make you read. But games? They make you feel. Whether you’re making moral choices in “The Witcher 3” or building relationships in “Stardew Valley”, games offer an interactive experience that no other art form can.

But…What About the Critics?
Sure, there are naysayers. Those who think games are just mindless fun. But wasn’t the same said about rock ‘n’ roll? Or comic books? Every new form of expression faces its critics. Yet, when games like “Braid” challenge our perception of time and love, or when “Undertale” makes us question our moral choices, it’s hard to deny their artistic value.

The Verdict

So, has gaming evolved into a legitimate form of art and expression? In the (potential) words of the Mario: “It’s-a me, Art-io!” From their narratives to visuals, from music to interactivity, games have carved a niche for themselves in the pantheon of art. They make us think, feel, and sometimes even cry (I’m looking at you, “Final Fantasy VII”).

To all the gamers out there, next time someone dismisses your favorite game as “just a game”, remind them of the artistry, emotion, and creativity that goes into every pixel. Because gaming? It’s not just a pastime. It’s art in motion.

I remember the first time I stumbled upon Lil Miquela, a well-known virtual influencer with about 3 million followers on Instagram. I was mind-blown. Here was this digital creation, living a life more glamorous than most real people I know in LA, producing her own music and collaborating with well-known companies. It was fascinating, but also a little unsettling.

From Virtual Influencers to CGI Actors?

And then there are CGI actors. Remember when a posthumous version of Peter Cushing reprised his role as Grand Moff Tarkin in “Star Wars: Rogue One”? Or when a young Robert De Niro appeared in “The Irishman”? That’s all thanks to the magic of CGI. But it’s not just about de-aging actors or bringing them back from the dead. We’re also seeing entirely CGI characters, like Alita in “Alita: Battle Angel”, who interact seamlessly with their human counterparts.

So, what will entertainment look like in this brave new world of virtual influencers and CGI actors?

Firstly, I envision a future where the line between virtual and real-life influencers becomes increasingly blurred. Picture this: your favorite fashion influencer teams up with a virtual counterpart for a groundbreaking collaboration. They could launch a clothing line together, host joint Instagram Lives, or even star in a reality TV show. The possibilities are endless. Similarly, we could see virtual influencers stepping off our Instagram feeds and onto our TV screens or movie theaters. The next big sitcom or drama series could come from the collaboration of both human and virtual influencers/actors.

Secondly, I anticipate a surge in the use of CGI actors, particularly in roles that pose significant risks or are simply unfeasible for humans. Imagine action-packed blockbusters or sci-fi epics where the daring stunts and otherworldly feats are performed not by stunt doubles, but by CGI counterparts. This could open up a whole new realm of storytelling possibilities, pushing the boundaries of what’s achievable on screen.

Human actors will always have an important role to play in the world of entertainment. There’s an undeniable magic in a human performance, an emotional depth and nuance that springs from our shared experiences and complexities. The subtle flicker of emotion in an actor’s eyes, the slight tremor in their voice during an intense scene, the authentic chemistry between characters – these are the things that make us connect with a story on a deeply personal level. And these are the things that, at least for now, technology can’t quite replicate. So, while CGI actors might take over certain aspects of the industry, the human touch in storytelling is irreplaceable.

Virtual museums are all the rage these days, and they promise to take us on a whirlwind art adventure without leaving our cozy couches. But hold on a sec, can these digital wonderlands truly replicate the authentic experience of physical art spaces? Let’s dive into this topic and explore the art of virtual museums.

The Virtual Experience: A New Dimension

Picture this: you slip on your VR headset, and just like magic, you’re transported to the hallowed halls of the Louvre. The Mona Lisa is right in front of you, and you can almost feel the mysterious smile teasing you. It’s like you’re standing in the presence of history itself! But wait, can virtual reality truly replicate the awe and wonder of standing inches away from a masterpiece?

I have to admit, virtual museums are pretty darn impressive. They bring art from around the world right into our homes, and that’s mind-blowing. Through VR, you can have interactive features and 360-degree views, through which you can get up close and personal with the art like never before.

As much as VR tries to mimic the real deal, there’s just something about the physical art space that can’t be replicated. The scent of old books in a vintage library or the echo of footsteps in a grand gallery – these sensory details create an ambiance that transports us to a different time and place.

I remember my first visit to the Museum of Modern Art. The brushstrokes on Van Gogh’s Starry Night and the vivid colors of Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon left me in awe. Being surrounded by fellow art enthusiasts and witnessing their reactions added to the magic of the moment. It’s the shared experience, the feeling of being part of something bigger than ourselves, that makes physical art spaces so captivating.

But hey, virtual museums aren’t just trying to copy-paste the physical experience. They’re carving out their own creative path. With innovative technologies like augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR), they’re adding fresh twists to how we engage with art. Imagine using AR to explore hidden details in a painting or MR to interact with digital art installations right in your living room. The possibilities are endless!

Of course, virtual museums have their perks too. They break down barriers, making art accessible to people who might never get a chance to visit the Louvre or the Met. That’s like a whole new world of inspiration at your fingertips. And with the power of the internet, virtual exhibitions can reach audiences across the globe, fostering a global community of art lovers.

So, can virtual museums replicate the authentic experience of physical art spaces? Virtual museums offer convenience, accessibility, and innovative interactions, while physical art spaces serve up a sensory feast and a sense of connection to history and humanity.

In the end, it all comes down to personal preference. Some days, you might crave the tranquility of your own art sanctuary, exploring digital realms at your own pace. Other days, you’ll yearn for the energy of a bustling art gallery, where you can immerse yourself in the collective experience of art appreciation.

But you know what? Why choose? Embrace both worlds! Let virtual museums expand your horizons and introduce you to new artists and ideas. And when the time is right, venture out to physical art spaces, soak in the ambiance, and let yourself get lost in the brushstrokes and sculptures. After all, art is about exploration, and there’s no right or wrong way to experience it.

Leveling up your life has never been more exciting! Imagine turning everyday tasks into epic adventures, where challenges become opportunities for growth and rewards fuel your motivation. Welcome to the captivating world of gamification, where game mechanics infuse real-life situations with excitement and engagement.

Questing towards Goals

Just like a skilled gamer embarking on thrilling quests, set clear goals in your daily life. Break them down into achievable milestones, and voilà, you’ve created your very own questline! Tracking your progress along the way adds an extra dose of satisfaction, like filling out a quest log with completed missions.

Power of Rewards

Who doesn’t love the sweet satisfaction of earning rewards in games? Well, why not bring that feeling into reality? Celebrate your achievements with tangible treats, like treating yourself to a delicious meal or getting that long-desired item. And don’t forget about intangible rewards – give yourself a pat on the back or relish the praise from friends and family.

Friendly Rivalries and Collaborations

Games have an enchanting way of bringing people together, right? So, why not infuse your real-life situations with that same social magic? Challenge your friends to friendly competitions, whether it’s a fitness challenge or a creative contest. But don’t stop there! Team up and collaborate on projects to unleash the power of collective creativity.

Adventures in Mundane Tasks

It’s time to sprinkle some pixie dust of fun onto your everyday routines! Gamification can turn the most mundane tasks into thrilling adventures. Turn household chores into time trials, or transform your daily commute into a space odyssey. Embrace your inner hero, and watch how gamification transforms ordinary activities into extraordinary experiences.

A few years back, I was extremely skeptical about artificial intelligence encroaching on our creative turf. I mean, how could a bunch of algorithms possibly grasp the beauty of art, music, or literature, right? Fast-forward to today, a lot has changed.

Is AI Really Creative?

Let’s face it; AI has made some jaw-dropping strides in the creative domain. From crafting catchy jingles and breathtaking art to penning down pretty solid poems, the robots have us raising an eyebrow (and maybe even our coffee mugs) in amazement. It’s like witnessing a futuristic showdown between the tech wizards and the human dreamweavers.

Now, don’t get me wrong; I’m all for progress and innovation. But as creative souls, we can’t help but worry that AI might replace us one day, leaving us with a case of the “starving artist” blues. Yet, amidst all the excitement, I believe there’s a silver lining, and here’s why:

First off, let’s talk about the magic of the human touch. We’re emotional beings, brimming with life experiences that fuel our creations. AI may be able to crunch numbers and churn out endless variations of a melody, but can it capture the raw passion and soulful essence of our music? I doubt it! Our emotions breathe life into our work, and that’s something no algorithm can emulate.

Take a look at some of history’s greatest artistic prodigies. Vincent van Gogh’s “Starry Night” and the melodic genius of Beethoven’s symphonies; their work transcends mere aesthetics. It’s the inner turmoil, the love, the joy, and the pain that found expression on canvas and staves. AI may be a fantastic tool for refining ideas, but it can’t replicate that human depth.

AI as the Trusty Creative Companion

Now, let’s flip the coin and explore the AI wonderland. Picture this: a painter with an AI sidekick, a musician with an AI conductor, or a writer with an AI collaborator! Having someone, or something, who constantly brings fresh ideas to the table, could definitely help you expand your creative horizons.

With AI by our side, we can break free from creative blocks and discover new paths we’d never have explored. It’s like having a genie who can grant artistic wishes – from instant image generation to brainstorming plot twists, AI is a trusty companion. Plus, it helps us optimize our time, so we can focus on the nitty-gritty of refining our masterpieces.

But hey, let’s not fear the AI revolution. Instead, let’s embrace it as an opportunity to evolve as artists. Remember, cameras didn’t make artists obsolete; they only amplified their creativity. Likewise, AI won’t replace us; it will enhance us, bringing a tech-powered harmony to our creative symphonies.

So, my fellow artists, let’s take a deep breath and welcome AI with open arms. Let it handle the repetitive tasks while we soar to new creative heights. In the end, it’s not a competition; it’s a collaboration between the human spirit and the AI ingenuity. Together, we’ll create a future where imagination knows no bounds!

In conclusion, AI is undoubtedly a game-changer, but it’s not the Terminator coming to snatch our artistic dreams. It’s an AI co-pilot, here to navigate the uncharted waters of innovation. So, let’s raise our brushes, instruments, and pens and dive into this tech-driven adventure together!

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly advancing and has already made significant strides in various industries. However, one area that has yet to see significant disruption by AI is blogging. Many have wondered if AI will replace human bloggers in the near future, specifically in 2023.

Currently, AI can assist with certain tasks such as content creation and generating headlines, but it is not yet advanced enough to fully replace human bloggers. Blogging often requires a unique perspective and personal voice that is difficult for AI to replicate. Additionally, many bloggers use their platform to express personal opinions and thoughts, which AI struggles to mimic.

Moreover, Blogging is not just about the generation of content, but also about promoting it, building a community, and keeping the audience engaged. These are tasks that require human touch, and at least for the moment, AI is not capable of doing it.

However, it’s not all bad news for bloggers. As AI technology advances, it can assist bloggers in various tasks such as editing, fact-checking, and research, which can free up more time for bloggers to focus on other aspects of their work, such as community building, networking, and monetization.

In summary, while AI may assist bloggers in their work, it is unlikely that it will replace human bloggers in 2023. Blogging requires a unique perspective and personal voice that is difficult for AI to replicate and the other tasks that come with blogging are not yet AI’s expertise. Rather than being a threat, AI can be seen as a tool that can help bloggers streamline their workflow and focus on the more creative and human aspects of their work.

As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, more and more people are turning to streaming services for their entertainment needs. But streaming services have been steadily gaining in popularity since 2015, when just over half of U.S. residents paid for some sort of subscription-video-on-demand service (SVOD), such as Netflix and Hulu. As of 2020, that number had climbed to an impressive 78%.

Today, consumers have a wide variety of SVOD service providers to choose from, and each platform wants to attract and retain as many customers as possible. As such, the tech behind popular streaming platforms is constantly evolving to better meet consumer demand, and individual user experience is of paramount importance. Streaming services in 2021, including relative newcomers Disney+ and HBO Max, are utilizing powerful artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms to keep users coming back for more.

But how does tech such as machine learning give users a highly personalized experience? The answer lies in big data and continued innovation into these promising technological advancements. Here’s what you need to know about how various streaming giants use AI, machine learning, and big data to retain customers and improve their overall journey.

Defining AI and Machine Learning: What’s in a Name?

Netflix, the kingpin of the U.S. streaming market, has been at the forefront of machine learning and AI for several years. According to Wired, the platform’s recommendation system was responsible for 80% of viewer choices in 2017 alone. That system, using AI, analyzes a viewer’s chosen content based on content tags as well as user behavior data ranging from how long one watches a particular show to time of day, and even cultural context.

Netflix collects so much user data that software intervention is necessary to make sense of it all, much less tailor recommendations based on the information. That’s where machine learning comes in. Machine learning expands on the concept of artificial intelligence to help an algorithm or software, whether used by a streaming platform or in some other capacity, effectively make its own decisions.

For its part, the Netflix research team is heavily invested in machine learning and uses the tech in various ways. Personalization is arguably the most well-known, but Netflix also utilizes machine learning when developing original shows and content. In recent years, Netflix has become a force to be reckoned with in the movie industry, and the company couldn’t have gotten there without machine learning.

The Role of Big Data in Streaming Platforms

Despite its ability to effectively think for itself, however, machine learning can’t do it alone; along with daily intervention from humans, AI tech gets a major boost from big data as well. And when used by streaming platforms, the machine learning-big data partnership creates a competitive advantage over other companies. The massive amounts of data collected by Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming platforms are typically too complex for traditional data processing software to handle, and big data is up to the task.

Additionally, big data helps identify frivolous data and subsequently discard it from the machine learning process. For users of streaming services, the veracity of data can further refine recommendations for even better personalization. And when customers don’t have to continuously scroll through haphazard options to find interesting and/or relevant content, they’re more likely to stay loyal to a particular platform.

It’s important to note, however, that even the most advanced machine learning processes aren’t infallible. For example, Netflix’s machine learning algorithms came under fire in 2017, accused of providing “biased and discriminatory outcomes.” The increase of original programming on the streaming platform in recent years has also raised concerns that user recommendations skew towards Netflix originals.

Driving the Consumer Journey in 2021 and Beyond

Once a fringe element of the entertainment industry, streaming platforms have become an integral part of everyday life, and a big business, to boot. As of 2020, researchers determined that the global streaming market was valued at $50 billion. What’s more, the streaming industry is expected to grow at least into 2028, thanks in large part to continued advancements in AI technology. The personal nature of streaming is one of its strongest selling points, so much so that personalization is now an expectation of the customer journey in numerous other industries in addition to entertainment.

Increasingly, companies of all sizes are creating customer journey maps that aim to capture the entire user experience in a single, usable image. Yet the word “map” in this context is a bit of an oversimplification, as the customer journey diagram contains an extensive amount of data, including user motivation, needs, and overall experience. The AI utilized by streaming services effectively creates its own version of the customer journey map. Then, it takes that map to further personalize the customer experience and identify any gaps or customer pain points that need to be addressed.

Key Takeaways

In our rapidly changing modern world, machine learning is crucial to the modern customer journey, and streaming services are leading the charge. AI and machine learning create personalized recommendations that subsequently allow customers to create their own experience with streaming platforms, dismissing what doesn’t work and emphasizing the features and programs that do.

And it’s a win-win situation for both parties: Users cultivate a sense of control over their entertainment while streaming companies (from Netflix and Hulu to Disney+ and Amazon Prime) gain greater insight into what drives their customer base, further elevating the user experience.
