…a hardcore device for the most extensive use

Motorola here, with the Droid Turbo tried to make a very powerful device in terms of hardware and software and simultaneously keep it cheap (or not so expensive if you prefer). We could say that they succeeded in a very satisfying degree. The device’s performance is fantastic, supported by a Quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 CPU, the powerful Adreno 420 GPU and it has 3GB of RAM. That make it one of the most powerful devices you can ever get at that price range. In addition it supports a lot of features like fast battery charging, wireless charging and in general is very well equipped. Beside the very good equipment, we could not forget to mention about the water-repellent build materials of the device. Is the first smartphone using Ballistic Nylon, and the “traditional” DuPont Kevlar of Motorola Droid is enhanced by the addition of Metallized Glass Fiber. However, is the Motorola Droid Turbo the perfect smartphone? We don’t think so.

1. Overheating

The main buyers of such a device are people who will seek performance for very demanding and extensive use. It is noticed though in some cases a not so pleasant overheat of the device. And a lot of people used the Droid Turbo noted that the device heats up pretty fast. The Droid Turbo will respond at almost every demanding use or process, but it will not feel good at it.

2. What about Usability?

In the end of the day the Motorola Droid Turbo is a smartphone and as any smartphone it should support perfectly the most basic operations of a phone. And with the most basic operations of a phone, we mean that it should be easy to handle, easy to use and suitable for mobility. Then we sadly notice that the sharp bottom makes it uncomfortable to hold and in general it is heavy and not so easy to handle.

3. It is not attractive at all

All you have to do is observe the phone and then watch at its competitors and you will realize that the Motorola Droid Turbo doesn’t have any sense of modern style. It is very thick and it feels bulky and dated. It definitely lacks of a character that will catch your eye on it and it is a bit tedious without any detail of attractiveness.

4. Lack of memory expansion

As we always say we are in a time that pictures, videos and in general media are getting larger and larger in size due to their evolution of quality. The fact that you cannot extend the storage capacity it kind of limits the usage of the phone and that simply doesn’t seem right for a device that is characterized that is suitable for the most extensive use.

5. Lack Of Stereo Speakers

That is a big disappointment. We talk about a phone that it has to be used a lot and it is emphasizing in performance and multimedia. And in the market, most of the new and capable smartphones come with stereo speakers. The Droid Turbo should definitely be able to compete them in multimedia aspects.

One of the best Smartphones ever made

The last smartphone Google made is the new Nexus 6 and it is with no doubt a very strong card for Google to play in the area of Smartphones. Google took its time to make it but in the end they made it really good. For performance the Nexus 6 has the Snapdragon 805 chipset with a quad-core 2.7GHz Krait 450 processor, 3GB of RAM and Adreno 420 graphics-processing. Those characteristics make it really, really good and in combination with good quality material (aluminum chassis) and the much sophisticated design make it one of the best Smartphones ever made. Is it really that good?

1. Not replaceable battery

As we always mention, the manufacturers do not completely convince yet about the reliability of the batteries in long term use. We all had experiences of battery issues in our portable devices in general. As a result when we hear about a non-removable battery on a portable device we assume it as a disadvantage. When a problem appears on the battery the users will be able to do nothing but to take the phone to a specialist.

2. It is a bit thick and heavy

Even when you buy a phablet you need it practical and easy to use. When you buy Google’s best phone you would expect from it to be good looking and with imagination. Well the Nexus 6 definitely it doesn’t have that special touch that will bake someone to remember it. It is very good with an enormous research behind it we are sure. But still, it kind of lacks of character. Even with the aluminum chasses and the good quality of made, there isn’t that elegant touch you get with a OnePlus 2, or that feeling you get with an iPhone. It is even less attractive than se Galaxy A7. It is maybe better on performance than all of those, but is it better than them to live with it daily?

3. Lack of a micro-SD slot

Even when you have solid 32GB or 64GB it is needed an option to extend the memory capacity of a device. In our days media take a lot of memory, high quality pictures and videos need GBs of memory and a lot applications are used that need GBs of memory too. In long term everybody will have more data and will need more memory. Even for practical reasons of moving data through devices we could say that a slot of a micro-SD card is needed.

4. It doesn’t come with a headset

Are we serious? We mentioned before that the Nexus 6 is maybe one of the best mobile devices ever and the best phone Google is launching. And it comes with no headset? Is the first phone to launch the Android Lollipop and is described by a lot of people as the flagship of Android and Google on smartphone technology and is mentioned that this device is writing history, also due to its background. Sorry lads, in 21st century history can be written only if it comes with headset.

5. What’s going on with the sound system?

We now that the Nexus 6 is really improved on its sound system and the front-facing stereo speakers are a really nice touch and a very good idea, with nice sound quality. However, plugging in a set of headphones is not a very good idea. The volume level is very low and in that category of Smartphones with that quality is disappointing. Something else we noticed is that video sound can be recorded only in mono which is really unfair for the very fine camera of 13MP.

…best video quality should be exists everywhere

Second Generation Moto G is a budget smartphone provided by Motorola which it was released in September of 2014. The opinions about budget smartphones like this are controversial because you don’t know exactly what to expect from such a device.

1. Non-removable battery
As we said in another article, this “issue” can be controversial. A big percentage of people believe that a removable battery on a smartphone is required. There is no doubt that this is a strong advantage: when the battery is destroyed, you can easily replace it on your own or change it whenever you want to if you need a more powerful battery, or just remove the battery when your phone is stuck and needs to be restarted.

2. Heats easily
Moto G’s users notice that the phone gets a bit hot even with the basic operations. That’s something that you never know when will cause hardware problems or something. Hey Motorola! You are making your customers feeling anxious!

3. Limited Internal Capacity
It’s a fact that people need a big amount of memory for multimedia, especially when a photo’s resolution and quality is very good, so each photo has about 2MB and a video hundreds of MBs or a few GBs. I think 8GB or even 16GB capacity is very low if you are a user who likes to take shots of nice moments. I agree that Motorola equips Moto G with a card slot but with that internal capacity user is forced to buy a micro SD.

4. 4G LTE absence
Web browsing(social media, What’s Up, YouTube etc are included) is at the top of the list of the main operations that smartphone users do. 4G stands for “4th generation” mobile data protocol and it provides to the users the opportunity to do these operations with the fastest mobile Internet experience. Although, Moto G 2nd Gen provides only 3G LTE.

5. Do not look for 1080p video streaming
Video streaming in 1080p has a different sense. However, Moto G provides video streaming only in 720p, something bad if you think how many videos users are watching through mobile devices. I know it’s a budget phone but personally I think that best video quality should be exists everywhere. Cheers.

Smartwatch or headache

Moto 360 is a really nice try from Motorola as it’s first smartwatch. It succeeded being one of the top 10 smartwatches in the market until nowadays. We have listed here some true facts about any problem that might have or users have issued before.

1. Rapid battery drain

This is one of the most common problem among any smartwatch you can bought. As it seems Moto 360 with a clean install of Android Wear 5.1 have really serious battery drain. It can loose about 30% of battery life in only one hour! They managed to fix somehow that issue with the successors of Android Wear 5.1, but is still a problem. Where stamina gone guys?

2. Stuck pixels

Stuck pixels don’t change regardless of the image on screen. Stuck pixels can spontaneously fix themselves, but there’s no telling when or if that might happen. Some users are reporting to have more than one stuck pixel on their screen. If it cannot be fixed, you can return your Moto 360 or exchange it. That’s the solution!

3. Offline or disconnected

Many users report that are getting messages on their Moto 360 about the device being offline or disconnected when it should be online and connected! Some of those problems fixed with troubleshooting by them or a successor update, but some are still being same.

4. Image retention

Some users have been found screen burn-in after leaving their watch charging overnight. This is because the Moto 360 displays the clock and charging status by default while it’s on the charging dock. The image retention or image persistence is defined as the LCD and plasma display equivalent of screen burn with temporary screen burn effects. The screen burn-in issue on LCD displays is temporary as compared to that seen on AMOLED displays.

5. Frozen Screen

Users often report the Moto 360 freezes while on the charging screen. If you see something like this, stucked on a specific screen, don’t be affraid! Just wait to get responsive again! What?!
