Is it a drone or a quadcopter? Call it whatever you want. DJI Phantom 3 Professional is here to offer the world amazing video capture with spectacular shots and a great overall experience. Drones are getting so popular that governments have begun to question whether they should issue special flying licences just for these “Drones”. As perfect as they may sound they surely come with some basic flaws which BadFive is here to expose for its readers.

1. Battery Life

Having a fairly limited experience with drones I was shocked when I first heard the battery life capabilities that phantom drones offer. 23 minutes at max. That’s it. That also depends on the way you fly the drone. On average users have reported that around 18 minutes of flight time is when they began to receive warnings about the battery. This is a good thing since you don’t want your expensive drone to start falling from the sky because of a drained battery.

2. Camera is Tied to The Drone

Unfortunately, as nice as the camera in the DJI Phantom 3 Professional is, it’s still tied to the drone. I find this to be a major problem since I would love to use my GoPro with the Phantom quadcopter. A GoPro camera tied to Phantom Drone could be a very powerful tool for extreme video shooting.

3. Limited Angles

Phantom 3 Professional can only shoot videos from the front. It’s a bit disappointing for an amazing device like this to have such a limitation. It appears that you can only shoot videos from a limited number of angles only from the front of drone. It doesn’t seem so “professional” to me.

4. No Obstacle Avoidance

If you are no expert in flying drones, like me, you might find some difficulty controlling your drone. That’s why it would have been perfect if it came with obstacle avoidance technology. Many users of the Phantom 3 have reported that they came close to crashing into buildings or trees. Some weren’t so lucky and they saw their expensive drones smashing into walls. Sad…I really hope the next version of the Phantom will come hardwired with this technology.

5. Expensive

Well, the price of the Phantom 3 Pro is controversial. Although it is not an exact professional drone it isn’t for amateurs either. That’s why it is valued accordingly. For many users though the Phantom is quite expensive. Adding to that the need for spare batteries the cost goes even higher.
