High tech and smart electric Vehicles are going off the road…

Are they really going? Well, Tesla is answering that question with the new up-coming model that answers to the name “Model X”. The Tesla Model X is the futuristic SUV of the brand and it is definitely a serious competitor in this very large category. Obviously it is not a hardcore off-roader but in terms of technology the Model X is probably the most modern, smart and well equipped SUV. On the other hand, in terms of performance it is absolutely breathtaking.

Is it futuristic?

Lately, when we characterize something as futuristic it has to be smart and intelligent. About the Tesla Model X, in order to decide if it is smart you only have to play with the functionalities of the 17-inch touchscreen that can be approximately as smart as any smart-phone connected to it. Beyond that touchscreen you can find some intelligence on the doors system. The car welcomes the driver by opening the door on his approach to it and the front doors are both powered, so they can be controlled with a button in the dash. Another feature to notice is the clever and sophisticated system of its rear “falcon wings” doors. Someone could expect that this type of doors are impractical and need a lot of space next to the car in order to open. However, Tesla developed a sophisticated way that make the doors open at even the most tight parking spaces. They only need 30cm on the side but it could be very inconvenient at parking in a low garage

How capable the Model X is off the road?

Well, the Model X is Tesla’s first attempt to step into the category of the SUVs. However, most probably it is not the kind of car that someone would test it to the limits in every possible terrain. And that’s mostly because of its low center of gravity that Tesla raised in order to control the Model X’s behavior on the road. In fact, making its performance and behavior that successful on the road it can be characterized as an accomplishment from Tesla’s Engineers due to the Models X’s massive weight, which is approximately two and half tons.

But what are its real capabilities as a car?

All you have to do, is to have a look on its technical specifications. Then, (for those who love driving) you will realize how much you want to drive that car. The slowest version makes from 0 to 60 miles per hour at the time of 6.0 seconds. The fastest version of the Tesla Model X which is the Ludicrous model can make from 0 to 60 miles per hour at the astonishing time of 3.2 seconds. A time that makes it a really, really fast car comparable to the most powerful supercars. Last but not least, the slowest Model X is capable of being driven for 220 miles in one charge with top speed at 140mph which is widely considered as very good and the Model X P90D Signature, which has a 90kWh battery it can be driven 250 miles in one charge according to Tesla’s statistics.

What about style?

At a first glimpse it seems like every Tesla – modern, simple and futuristic. The Models X’s aerodynamic design gives it a smooth sportif touch and the lovely “falcon wings”-styled back doors make it an impressive car. In the front the Model X has a big windshield that offers a unique panoramic view giving to the interior a different sense from any other car. In the interior you will also notice a 17-inch high tech touchscreen and the seats have a very special delicate look. In conclusion, despite its big size, the Tesla Model X has certainly really modern and stylish interior and exterior keeping always the unique character that every Tesla has.
