Apple has recently announced some of the features it will include in the latest version of iOS, also known as iOS 12. As we mentioned before, Apple is recently trying to improve the performance of iOS, instead of just adding a bunch of cool features, as it always does. But still, there are a few features that will be included in the newest version of iOS which could assist you during the day.

Screen Time

Maybe one of the most important features and also a favourite of mine is the “Screen Time”. Screen time is basically a monitoring system of your device’s usage. It can track the time you spend using a specific app. The company developed new tools to make the users aware of the time they spend using apps and websites. The iOS can now generate some daily and weekly Activity Reports for several things like the amount of time spent in Social Networking, Entertainment or Productivity apps. This also includes a graph with your activity throughout the day, the longest session you had by using your device in general etc.

New tools are also developed for limiting the daily usage of specific apps and websites through the system. In that way the users would be notified when the limit is reached as a method of rehabilitation on their addiction to the digital world.

Set Downtimes

Downtime is another useful tool in which you can set specific times during the day where you wish block any apps and notifications from disturbing you. This can make you more calm and relaxed when you most need it. For example, you may consider setting up Downtime during bedtime.

Kids applicable

As a parent, you can find those kind of tools very useful. You can set limits for your kids, without hearing complaints. This will also help you to avoid transforming your kids into digital-world addicted persons. You can also monitor their usage from afar. Definitely adding exceptions for apps or websites in these occasions is a must. For example, you want your child to constantly have access to calls and messaging in order to be able to reach you at any time.

A feature that will “save lives”

In my opinion, this feature can save lives, because it changes the perspective on how we use our devices and makes us aware of how much we’re addicted to them. There are a tone of things to do outhere; in the real world. Being aware of our digital addictions, is the first step to a balanced, normal life

Have you tried unlocking your device, when suddenly everything disappeared from the interface? Touch screen didn’t respond to your commands? Did you find it difficult to get the keyboard to come up when you’re supposed to send an important message? Camera couldn’t manage to capture quickly an amazing moment in your life? Having any Apple device with iOS 11 installed, all of us have faced a lot of those issues .

Looking back at the past, I believe that Apple succeeded in bringing the worst of the iOS with iOS 11. Suffering from a big number of bugs, glitches and non-responsive moments, iOS 11 is definitely the most hateful version of our iPhones and iPads.

Is iOS 12 becoming one of the best versions yet?

Since the latest Apple WWDC, which was carried out on the 4th of June, Apple seems really determined and focused on improving performance and stability of iOS, instead of just throwing random features on it. Fortunately, recent iOS 12 beta testing shows that the performance has indeed improved in several aspects. Actually, during the beta testing, some of the testers even said they haven’t faced any bugs or lag. This is something nearly impossible if we consider that it is only a beta version of what we expect. As most of us know, it’s natural for a beta version to come with a large amount of issues.

Talk to me about numbers

Apple mentioned on its website some specific performance metrics to present how fast the iOS 12 has become. They presented just a few of them as follows: Up to 70% faster swipe to Camera, 50% faster keyboard display and 2x faster app launch under heavy workload.

Get things done, automated, faster without any obstacles, is the first principle which every tech company has to follow. Will Apple succeed in building the best iOS version until today? What’s your opinion? Do you have any first impressions to discuss while using the beta version of iOS 12? Let us know in the comments below!

Apple announced a lot of exciting stuff during this year’s WWDC. The keynote focused on updates for iOS12, watchOS, tvOS and macOS. The aftermath of the event was people mainly discussing the new software changes, apps and features that were presented at WWDC 2018. But for me, there was a moment during the keynote that captured my attention and made me want to share this story.

The story begins with Tim Cook saying:

“When we began development of the watch years ago we had a vision for just how impactful and essential it could become in our lives. “

He was referring of course to the Apple Watch. When he said impactful, he was talking about how much the Apple Watch helped many people out there to improve their fitness, their lifestyles and even, in extreme cases, save lives.

“If it wasn’t for my Apple Watch, he really would not be here today”
Mary Dovgin

Tim Cook shared a story of how a woman named Mary Dovgin was able to save her husband, John, with the help of the Apple watch. I loved this story because it depicts how technology can be used to really help people instead of harming them, which is many times the case.

We uploaded a one minute video of the story so you can hear it yourselves:

It’s official. Apple WWDC 2018 is taking place on June 4. The company has sent invitations to journalists, confirming the date, time and place of this year’s WWDC event. But what shall we expect to see at Apple’s WWDC Keynote?

When will WWDC 2018 take place?

This years Worldwide Developer Conference will be held from 4 to 8 June 2018 in San Jose. The Keynote will be taking place at 4 June at 10am (PT).

The Facts

Every year at WWDC, Apple unveils their latest software updates for all their products. For this reason, it is certain that we’ll be seeing minor or major updates to iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS.

Although this year Apple has decided to focus on security and performance updates, this doesn’t mean that the new software is going to be boring. On the contrary, we expect to see further integration of their augmented reality features, a fresh user interface redesign and more. One thing I’m certain we’re going to be seeing more of, are animojis. Animojies EVERYWHERE.

The Rumours

There are plenty of rumours for this year’s WWDC. Perhaps the most exciting one is that of iPhone SE 2. Many sites claim that Apple will be announcing a refreshed version of their “budget” iPhone. A new iPhone SE seems possible, taking into account how long it has been since Apple has announced the original SE.

Rumours have it that we’re also going to be seeing a new iPad Pro. Hypothetically speaking, we’re expecting to see a total redesign of the iPad Pro, without a notch and a display similar to that of iPhone X. If that’s the case, it’s fair to assume that features like FaceID and animojies are going to make their way into the latest iPad Pro.

Finally, Apple Air Power is expected to be announced at this years Keynote. This multi-device wireless charger was introduced alongside iPhone X in September 2017 and was said to be released in 2018. For this reason, WWDC 2018 seems like a perfect time to unveil Air Power and announce when it’s going to hit the shelves.

The above are rumours that have been circulating the tech community for a while now, but surely there could be more to the event that we haven’t seen coming. Only one way to find out. Stay tuned for Apple’s WWDC 2018. See you then.

Apple building it’s own speaker to compete with Google and Amazon

The rumors we heard a few weeks ago about Apple building it’s own speaker seem to be materialized, according to Bloomberg’s latest report. Apple’s goal is to compete head to head with its two biggest rivals, Google and Amazon. The “Siri speaker” aims to surpass Google Home and Amazon Echo with the ultimate goal of attracting more people towards their own services. Todo so, Apple needs to offer something special to standout from the other two speakers.

Features

The “Siri speaker” is expected to lean heavily on integration with Apple’s ecosystem and at the same time give the ability to control smart home gadgets. More specifically, you will be able to use it to control HomeKit smart home devices. Although it is possible that third-party services will support the speaker from the beginning, nothing has been confirmed so far.

In order to standout from its rivals, Apple appears to be focusing on sound quality. The speaker is expected to produce virtual surround sound with the goal of creating a room-filling experience. The company has allegedly considered using sensors to automatically adjust the sound levels based on the varying accoustings of the room.

Some additional rumored features that might be included in the “Siri speaker”:

Facial recognition

Light version of iOS

Emotion sensing

Beats technology

Release Date

With WWDC coming up next week we expect an official announcement from Apple regarding the release date of their speaker. Although the “Siri speaker” will most likely be announced at this year’s WWDC, Apple won’t be shipping the device until later in the year.

Possible name of device: iSpeaker. Not so hard to guess this one
