Which Starter Pokemon Is The Most Popular – Survey Results

The people have spoken!

I have to admit I was surprised in some places and disappointed in others. The lack of love for Chespin (my personal favourite) and some other starters were especially rough.

Whatever the case, without further ado, here are the most popular starter Pokemon from each generation, as voted by you.

GEN 1 – Red, Green & Blue

Can’t say I’m surprised Charmander won, but Squirtle…ouch.

GEN 2 – Gold, Silver & Crystal

Totodile…almost.

GEN 3 – Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald

Mudkip obliterates the competition!

GEN 4 – Diamond, Pearl & Platinum

Happy feet always win!

GEN 5 – Black & White, Black & White 2

The most unexpected win in this survey. Just wow.

GEN 6 – X & Y

Chespin is still the winner in my heart! Damn you Greninja…

GEN 7 – Sun & Moon, Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

No surprise here, Rowlet is one of the best-designed Pokemon in recent years.

GEN 8 – Sword & Shield

I see the #SobbleSquad noticed this survey.

Are you satisfied with the results? What is your favourite starter Pokemon to date? Let us know in the comments below.

Pokémon Sword & Shield comes out on November 15, 2019 for Nintendo Switch. With a map and region inspired by the United Kingdom and all the different cultures that have come to life there, it is by far one of the most ambitious games developer GameFreak has worked on. With a heavier focus on more conventional 3D open-world design, with a variation of the Sun & Moon camera “placement”, Sword & Shield look very promising for the direction Pokemon will take in the future. The release date can’t come soon enough.
